About weatherboarding
The idea often conjures up pictures of seaside cottages, country barns and windmills - weatherboarding in Suffolk has been around for generations.
Timber weatherboards are what we really associate with heritage properties, but have always come with ongoing maintenance and replacement costs.
PVCu cladding is a hardier replacement which will keep its good looks without hours up a ladder with a paint-pot and generally minimum maintenance. However, it is much more contemporary in its overall look and feel and often not considered appropriate for buildings in the countryside or conservation areas.
If only there were a weatherboarding solution which was extremely long-lasting, with negligible maintenance, which could be versatile enough to cope with the quirky shapes of both older and more contemporary buildings and look the part...

How is HardiePlank weatherboarding installed?
Falcon Windows are experienced HardiePlank installers serving Suffolk and Essex. <
- HardiePlank weatherboarding is installed onto your existing brick, block or rendered elevations by means of installing a membrane and battens.
- Preparation involves carefully removing old cladding materials and battening-out on a plain wall, with the treated wooden battens fixed with the correct width and joiner battens, then covered with a waterproof membrane.
- If insulation is required, then the correct depth of insulation is installed between the battens.
- The installation requires ventilation, so before the first board is applied, a starter ventilator is fixed in place.
- The HardiePlank boards are then screw-fixed - rather than nail gunned - to make sure the boards do not move.<
- The HardiePlank boards are then fixed above each other all the way up the wall with a slight expansion gap left to let air flow behind the boards and escape.
- A specially designed ventilator grill is used to keep the lines straight. This doubles up as an insect repellent.
- The HardiePlank boards are then cleaned up. Windows and doors on the elevation are trimmed accordingly and the top fixings are covered and painted with HardiePlank's own paint to match the board colour installed seamlessly.
